How did our ancestors do their laundry?

all that they did was fill a wooden tub (the same one that they would take a bath in) and bring in buckets of water to fill it up sicne they couldnt grag it all the way to the well or pump. And then they would put soap in the water and let thier clothes soak for a bit. Then they would rub them on the washboards and sometimes some of them would go to the pump or well to rinse them off. And then they would hang them outside on a line.
