I want to take out my catalytic converter on my 98 eclipse gst.?

ok i want to but i dnt really kno how to. i haerd that i can just take it off and bang the stuff out of it but im not sure. o and also will it make it louder and will it hurt my car in any way. thank you and the smart azz answers are not needed hah.
